Prices by metal
What affects your scrap metal price?
The metal type is only part of the value. Grade, attached materials, contamination and weight affect the final price. Bare copper wire and mixed copper have different grades; insulated cable is not valued like bare wire.
Keep different metals and grades separate where practical. Remove non-metal attachments only when safe, and never burn cable insulation. Describe the condition and approximate weight when asking for a quote.
Scrap metal price questions
Are these UK average scrap metal prices?
No. This is our own confirmed price list for our Chertsey business, serving Surrey and London, not a national average. Other businesses may offer different prices.
Are your scrap prices live?
No. Prices are entered manually and show the most recent update date. Prices not checked within 14 days are marked for a price check and are not used in the calculator. Contact us to confirm before selling.
What is the difference between prices per kg and per tonne?
One tonne is 1,000 kg. Our iron prices are shown per tonne; the other listed grades are per kg. The calculator converts the weight and price units for you.
How much is my scrap metal worth?
Start with its metal type, grade and weight, then use the value calculator for an estimate based on a current listed price. The final price depends on the condition and weight of the material.
