Scrap Car Battery Prices
Our car batteries prices from Chertsey, serving Surrey and London. These are our own prices, not UK averages.
Vehicle starter batteries are lead-acid batteries and are classed as hazardous waste. Their value comes mostly from the lead inside, so prices are linked to lead markets, but they are graded and handled as a separate stream.
Many yards accept intact lead-acid batteries. Broken or leaking batteries may be refused or need special handling. Lithium batteries from electric vehicles and electronics are different and must not be mixed in.

Car batteries price FAQs
Can I put a car battery in my household bin?
No. Lead-acid batteries are hazardous waste. Take them to a scrap yard that accepts them or to a council recycling centre.
Will a London scrap yard pay me in cash?
No. Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, licensed dealers in England and Wales cannot pay for scrap metal in cash. Expect a bank transfer or cheque, and bring photo ID and proof of address, which dealers are required to record.
